Happy New Year!
Wow, the start of another year – Happy New Year everyone. Here’s hoping that 2009 will make you the savviest shoppers in the world! With gloom and doom forecast for the entire year, you’ll need every good bit of advice you can lay your hands on. Here’s my recommendations on where to get good information to help you save money, so that you can still afford the odd luxury or two!
- Sign up to updates from the following websites, as they’re packed full of good advice:
- Always use comparison websites – for everything! My faves are:
- Get brand name groceries in Poundland….for a pound!
You’d be surprised at the names in Poundland – Johnson’s holiday skin, Mess Head shampoo and conditioners, Veet hair removal – all at a £1. Definitely worth a trip rather than always getting this stuff in the supermarket.
- Recycle clothes…really!
I’m a HUGE fan of clothes swap parties and I predict this will become a big trend in 2009. My group of friends get together regularly, brining ten really nice items of clothing or accessories that don’t fit us or just aren’t right. It’s got to be good stuff, not charity shop rejects! We try stuff on and then bid for the items we want. All the money goes to that night’s chosen charity. It’s the perfect girls’ night in.
My other great fashion tip is to renovate and restore clothes that are either faded or becoming a bit boring, by dyeing them. Check out www.dylon.co.uk for their FAB range of colours. I recently restored my favourite cord jacket (which had become really faded) by using their chocolate brown dye and it’s as good as new.
- And of course my top tips wouldn’t be complete with a special mention for Everydaysale! Don’t forget discount vouchers and offers updates from www.everydaysale.co.uk – shopping from the comfort of your living room with great discounts to keep your piggy bank happy.
